He questioned the present teaching and practice in that it regards remarriage rather than divorce as conflicting with the indissolubility of marriage. Arguing that divorce should be forgiveable, he suggests a pentitential rite for divorced faithful which reconciles them with God, reintegrates them into the full ecclesial community, and eventually offers them the possibility of a second marriage. |
