Urgent work in the ontology of homosexuality using a theological-anthropological approach needs to be conducted. In France, a group of researchers has been engaged with this. They emphasise the importance of sexual differentiation, emphasising that homosexuality cannot be equated with heterosexuality. One such theologian, Xavier Lacroix, has been critically negative of homosexuality. This article is based on a study of his insights. The first part treats Lacroix’s ethical-philosophical approach to homosexuality. Lacroix’s reservations about homo-marriage and homo-parenthood are discussed in the second part. The third part considers Lacroix’s views on sexual differences, and shows how his attitude to homosexuality is imbedded in and dependent on these views. Critical questions are posed to the author under discussion in the conclusion.
