Abstract :

The hitherto unpublished papyrus Chassinat III contains three different texts. The first one is an unknown tale and was written on the recto, and on a part of the verso of the papyrus. There are important similarities between it and the Tale of two brothers, from the d’Orbiney Papyrus. They share relations to the myth of Bata, lord of Saka. A part of the story takes place in the east of the Delta, between the Heliopolis area and the Roads of Horus (Tjaru/Sile). An ox is presented along with a «libidinous man» nicknamed «Mi-pu» and the «ignorant one», who must be identified as one of the two brothers who appear in the tale. This person seems to have suffered great injustice. Several stylistic features belong to the satirical genre, with grotesque characteristics, and elements which parody love songs. The second text was written on the verso. This prayer to Theban gods may be a «model» text. The third one deals with book-keeping and is not studied in this article.
