Abstract :
Although we have as yet no direct pre-Akkadian, that is prior to ca. 2350 B.C., textual evidence of Meluḫḫan imports entering the Mesopotamian scene either via the Arabian Gulf or via the landroute through Iran, the presence of raw materials in Mesopotamia known to have come from the Indus Valley point to a Meluḫḫan maritime trade with Mesopotamia prior to the Akkadian period (ca. 2350-2200 B.C.).
