This article begins by offering the definitions of ‘spirituality’ and ‘spirituality in the workplace’. In order to place this development in a greater context, a review of the evolution of management theories is discussed, and it is posited that spirituality will be the next major factor in how theorists and practitioners look at the field of management. Five trends are presented that have led to the increasing interest in spirituality in the workplace. Research evidence is presented on the extent of this emerging trend. The article concludes with a brief description of some of the seminal research in the field. |
