De vaststelling dat insectennamen nauwelijks voorkomen in de toponymie is wellicht dan ook toe te schrijven aan het feit dat er nauwelijks onderzoek op dat gebied is verricht. Bijgevolg wordt voor de verklaring van insecttoponiemen vaak zeer diep gegraven in een poging een andere verklaring te vinden dan die welke misschien het meest voor de hand ligt. Het uitgangspunt van dit onderzoek is dan ook de vraag 'zijn insectnamen in toponiemen wel zo zeldzaam?'. The author retrieved a lot of place names with elements such as lice, flee, musquito, ant, fly, bee,etc. The idea that insect names are rare in toponymics is probable a result of the small number of studies of these names. Hence the insect place names are much too profoundly researched in an attempt to find an other explanation instead of the most probable one. The starting point of this article is: are insect place names that rare? |
