Het is echter niet de bedoeling te provoceren. De titel is eigenlijk een parafrase in vraagvorm van wat wijlen Dr. Jos Molemans enkele jaren geleden in een informeel gesprek heeft gezegd. Het is daarenboven goed na 100 jaar de verdiensten en onvolkomendheden van de studie eens in het licht te stellen. Cuvelier and Huysmans 100 years later: Do we need to (re)write the toponymical study of Bilzen? The title of this contribution, may sound provoking, especially on a symposium organised in Bilzen to commemorate the appearance of the toponymical study of Bilzen of Cuvelier and Huysmans 100 years ago. I did not mean to provoke. The title is a mere paraphrasis of the words of the late Dr. Jos Molemans in an informal conversation. Moreover, it would be interesting -after one century- to evaluate the merits and the shortages of the study. |
