Abstract :
As soon as the Arabs had conquered Central Asian regions, trickles of Turkish slaves began appearing in the slave markets of the newly created empire. But it was the arrival of the Abbasids which threw the doors of such slave markets wide open for the Turkish youngsters. The caliphal court, the houses of the courtiers and the domiciles of the rich sheltered hundreds of them.
