In mijn artikel betwistte ik namelijk zijn verklaringen voor het voorkomen (of niet) van diminutivisch of augmentavisch afgeleide voornaamsvarianten in ambtelijke bronnen uit de late Middeleeuwen. Beele meent dat ik zijn studie ten onrechte bekritiseer, omdat mijn conclusie fundamenteel niet zou verschillen van de zijne - dat is, volgens hem, dat een voornaam in de diminutiefvorm vaak een indicator is voor de jonge leeftijd van de naamdrager. Daarenboven verwijt hij mij de nuances van zijn argumentatie te negeren. An Answer to Wilfried Beele or Why Science Is Still Possible after 1975 Wilfried Beele apparently is offended by me uttering my disagreement with his 1975 claims on personal names in the 13th and 14th centuries. In my article I criticised his explanation of the (non-)appearance of dimunitive or augmentative derived variants of christian names in official sources from the late Middle Ages. Beele is convinced that my critics are in vein, asif my conclusion wouldn't differ significantly from his, meaning that -in his point of view- a christian name in the diminutive is an indicator for the younger age of the name bearer. Moreover, he states that I am ignoring the nuances of his argumentation. |
