Elle a succédé à la revue Échos d'Orient, fondée en 1897 par un groupe d'Assomptionnistes réunis autour de Louis Petit à Kadiköy (dans les environs d'Istanbul). Elle est éditée par l'Insitut Français d'Études Byzantines (IFEB). Elle paraît une fois par an. The Revue des études byzantines is an international, peer-reviewed journal that publishes scholarly articles on all aspects of Byzantine history and civilization. It is the successor to the journal Échos d’Orient, which was founded in 1897 by a group of Assumptionist fathers led by Louis Petit in Kadiköy (in the vicinity of Istanbul). It is edited by the Insitut Français d'Études Byzantines (IFEB). It is published at the rate of one issue per year.
