ISSN : 1783-8363 E-ISSN : 1783-8398 CATEGORIES : Archaeology, Classical Studies, Oriental Studies | Ancient West & East is an academic journal devoted to the history and archaeology of the ancient world, especially its periphery, from the 2nd millennium BC to Late Antiquity. The geographical scope ranges from the eastern shores of the Atlantic to Central Asia and from Scandinavia to North Africa. Within this wide remit, the journal aims to take particular (though not exclusive) interest in the relations between local societies and cultures, on the one hand, and the colonial and/or imperial civilisations of antiquity on the other hand; in 'peripheries', and in relations between 'centre' and 'periphery'; in the links between societies and regimes across distances; and in the healthy discussion of methodology. We intend the journal to reflect developments in scholarship as they occur. Our goal is high academic standards. In the overall context of societal and cultural links within and between ancient West and East, we are seeking studies which are thematic and general articles synthesising the current state of research, knowledge, etc.; studies that address particular historical problems; and studies which publish objects or excavation results. Ancient West & East is abstracted and indexed in the Index Islamicus; CrossRef; Thomson Scientific Links; ERIH PLUS (European Reference Index for the Humanities and Social Sciences). Ancient West & East is a peer-reviewed journal. Supplement series Ancient West & East publishes a Supplement series of books. The aim of this series is to provide an opportunity for publication of more substantial works of monograph length and collective works on particular themes.
