Ancient West & East

Ancient West & East is an academic journal devoted to the history and archaeology of the ancient world, especially its periphery, its so-called barbarian milieu, the activities thereabouts of Greeks and Romans, and the relations between them and local peoples. Much attention is paid to local societies and cultures and their links with the early Byzantine and Near Eastern worlds as well as the Graeco-Roman. We aim to include healthy discussion and have contributions on methodology. The journal seeks to reflect developments in scholarship as they occur. The journal accepts papers ranging geographically from the eastern shores of the Atlantic to Central Asia and from Scandinavia to North Africa, from the beginning of the 2nd millennium BC until the end of Antiquity. Mainland Greece and Rome are excluded, but contributions about relations between them and the periphery are welcome; Macedonia, Magna Graecia and Etruria are included.

Ancient West & East is abstracted and indexed in the Index Islamicus; CrossRef; Thomson Scientific Links; ERIH PLUS (European Reference Index for the Humanities and Social Sciences).

Ancient West & East is a peer-reviewed journal.
