Document Details : Title: The Imperium of Cn. Calpurnius Piso Author(s): LOWE, B. Journal: Ancient Society Volume: 34 Date: 2004 Pages: 115-125 DOI: 10.2143/AS.34.0.505237 Abstract : Several important aspects of the First Catilinarian Conspiracy have not been adequately explained and it is the author's intention to consider the appointemnt of the conspirator Cn. Calpurnius Piso as Quaestor ProPraetore and governor of the province of Hispania Citerior. It is the autor's contention that Piso has been the victim of posthumous denigration and that this appointment need not be viewed either in the context of the 'conspiracy' of 66/65 BC or the anti-Pompeian plitics of the mid to late 60s BC. |
