Document Details : Title: The Development of Literary Contacts between the Georgians and the Arabic Speaking Christians in Palestine from the 8th to 10th Century Author(s): NANOBASHVILI, Mariam Journal: ARAM Periodical Volume: 15 Date: 2003 Pages: 269-274 DOI: 10.2143/ARAM.15.0.504539 Abstract : The development of literary contacts between the Georgians and the Arabic speaking Christians is discussed in the wider realm of Georgia's age-old connections with the Near East. These contacts led the neighbours to intensive cultural exchange. The analysis of the translations made from Arabic in Georgian are of great interest, as the Georgian versions are of special significance for the history of Christian texts in Arabic in the Holy Land. The leading role in the development of the contacts between Georgians and the Arabic speaking Christians belongs to the monastery of Mar Sabas. |
