There certainly was an idea at the origin of it, but it had no clearly defined contours, it was struggling for its own profile, needing a multiplicity of conversations which grew like ripples in ever increasing circles, reaching others with the same frame. Now ideas are never the product of mere spirit; pressing and at times oppressive experiences bring their influence to bear on the person immediately responsible for the idea. Not without reason theology as a science speaks of Sitz im Leben. |
